DePuy Orthopaedics, manufacturers of hip implants, recently issued a recall for certain implant devices. You may have received a letter from your doctor or DePuy advising you of this. It is a voluntary recall of DePuy's ASR™
XL Acetabular Hip System and DePuy
ASR™
Hip Resurfacing System. These systems first became available in July 2003.
If you had your hip surgery prior to July 2003, the hip you received is not subject to this recall. If you have received an ASR™
XL Acetabular System or DePuy ASR™
Hip Resurfacing System, both of which may be referred to as a "hip implant," your implant likely is subject to the recall.
You should not wait to receive a letter. Contact your doctor now to determine whether you received a recalled implant. It is important you act on this notice right away to protect your legal rights. If you need to replace the device, you have a right to have your medical expenses paid by the manufacturer and to be compensated for your pain, suffering and inconvenience. If you received a recalled implant, call Bremer & Trollop Law Offices at 715-849-3200. We are currently accepting clients with claims against DePuy Orthopaedics for the damages caused the faulty hip implants.
Dangerous Products
Product liability laws are in place to protect consumers who are injured due to dangerous or defective products - products such as toys, automobiles, lawn equipment or food. When manufacturers, distributors or sellers of dangerous products fail to adhere to industry standards, release defective or poorly designed items, or have unclear warning instructions that lead to your personal injury, you have a right to compensation.
Product liability also applies to the workplace in cases where a work-related injury is the result of a defective or dangerous product or machine. In this case, you may be eligible for compensation beyond worker's compensation benefits.
If you have been injured by a dangerous or defective product, contact Bremer & Trollop at any one of our central Wisconsin offices. As part of our services, we'll
