WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Carter’s Watch the Wear Bodysuits and Sleep ‘n Play Garments

Units: About 128,000

Importer/Manufacturer: Weeplay Kids LLC, of New York, N.Y.

Hazard: The snaps can detach from the fabric of the garment, posing a choking hazard to infants and young children.

Description: This recall involves H.W. Carter & Sons/Carter’s Watch the Wear bodysuits and sleep ‘n play one-piece garments. “Carter’s Watch the Wear” is printed on the front of the package and on the inside neckline.

Adams Woman Injured In Accident

An Adams woman was struck by a vehicle in the Dells Prairie township on Saturday.  Brandi Norton, of Adams, was struck on Highway 13 near the intersection of Gillette Drive.  Authorities say Norton’s vehicle ran out of gas, and she was walking along Highway 13 when she was struck by Shiwu Chen, also of Adams.  Norton was transported by Wisconsin Dells ambulance, then taken by Flight for Life to the Madison hospital.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Bumbleride Indie & Indie Twin Strollers

Units: About 28,000 (an additional 2,700 were sold in Canada)

Importer: Bumbleride Inc., of San Diego, Calif.

Hazard: The front wheel can break at the axle hub, causing the stroller to tip and posing a fall hazard.

Sold at: Buy Buy Baby and other baby product stores nationwide, online at Bumbleride.com, and other online retailers between January 2009 and January 2012 for between $500 and $700.

Medford Man and Athens Woman Injured In Accident

A Medford man and an Athens woman were released from Ministry Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill on Monday after a two-car crash in the town of Corning. A vehicle driven by Sara Faber, of Athens, collided with a vehicle driven by William Byrd, of Medford, as he was turning onto Highway Z off Highway 64/107.

Students Injured In Vilas County Bus Accident

Seven students in Vilas County were taken to the hospital after the school bus they were riding in was rear-ended by a truck.  It happened Tuesday in the town of Washington.  The school bus was stopped in the westbound lane of State Highway 70 at Hemlock Lane preparing to let students off when it was struck from behind by a truck.  Seven students and the bus driver were taken to Eagle River Memorial Hospital.

The Container Store Recalls Brightly-Colored Power Strips Due to Fire Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Lush Life® power strips

Units: About 7,200

Importer: The Container Store Inc., of Coppell, Texas

Hazard: The power strips have undersized wiring, and the wiring and plastic strip fail to meet the requirements for fire resistance, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported

Description: This recall involves three designs of brightly-colored, six-outlet power strips with model number 8001-6 embossed on the back. Power strip designs include Pop Power Strip in Scroll (black with white scroll), Dot (blue with orange, white and lime green dots and a lime green cord), and Zebra (black and white zebra stripes). The power strips have three-foot power cords. “Lush Life® power strips by design” is printed on the product’s packaging.

Sold at: The Container Stores nationwide and on the firm’s website www.containerstore.com from October 2011 through December 2011 for about $15.

Antigo Area Accident Causes Injury

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 45 and Highway B at Neva caused significant injuries to the drivers.  The crash occurred on a two-lane section of Highway 45, just north of where it expands to four lanes. The Langlade County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash, which injured both male drivers. One of the men was taken by ambulance to Langlade Hospital while the other was airlifted to Aspirus Wausau Hospital by the MediVac helicopter. Officials are questioning if one of the drivers may have failed to properly stop.

Rothschild Accident Causes Injury

One person was injured in a four-vehicle accident Thursday on Business Highway 51 in Rothschild.  Three cars were stopped in the left lane of southbound Business Highway 51. As the driver of the first car waited to make a left turn onto Everest Drive with two cars behind it, a fourth car struck the third vehicle and caused a chain reaction.
