Antigo Car Accident At Little League Game

A sports utility vehicle driven by Charles Melzer, of Antigo, reversed into a baseball backstop, striking four people, at a Little League game at Saratoga park.  The victims, two of them children, were all treated and released from Langlade Hospital.  Melzer told police that while attempting to leave the park his foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator while the vehicle was in reverse, resulting in the accident.

In an accident like the one described above, the pedestrians injured in the accident may have access to insurance coverage to help with their medical bills through their own automobile insurance (or their parents’ automobile insurance).  Many people do not realize their car insurance will apply to almost all automobile accidents, even if they are not actually in a car at the time.  A personal injury attorney will help you make strategic use of personal automobile insurance and health insurance.  Call Bremer & Trollop Law Offices for a free consultation at 877-949-3200.

Wausau and Tomahawk Residents Injured in Rhinelander Accident

A man from Wausau, Mark Lillie, and a woman from Tomahawk, Leanne Setlak, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday near Rhinelander.  Lillie’s vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Setlak at the intersection of Theis Road and Highway A in the town of Harrison.  Lillie, who was northbound on Theis Road, ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit Setlak’s vehicle on Highway A, police said.  Both Lillie and Setlak were transported to Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander.

Often, people injured in an accident similar to the one described above believe they do not need the assistance of an attorney because the other driver failed to stop at a stop sign and liability should be clear.  However, liability or fault is just one of the many things contested by an insurance company when faced with a personal injury claim.  Even when liability appears to be uncontested, the assistance of a personal injury attorney almost always is wise in an automobile accident claim.  If you have been injured in a car accident, call Bremer & Trollop Law Offices for a free consultation at 877-949-3200.

Bicyclist injured in collision on Grand Avenue in Wausau

A bicyclist was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Kickbusch Street.  A woman was riding a bike on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled out from a driveway on Grand Avenue and hit her.

In Wisconsin, the general state law is that bicycles must ride on the street, not on a sidewalk.  Insurance companies for drivers of vehicles that strike bicycles crossing streets from sidewalks often reference this law to dispute the claim of the injured bicyclist.  However, the state law also says local municipalities can change the law by creating areas where bikes are required to instead be on the sidewalk.  Much of Grand Avenue in Wausau is one of those locations.  Every municipality is different, however, and the local code must be reviewed in each case to determine whether the bike should have been on the road or sidewalk.  If you have been injured in a bike/automobile accident, a personal injury attorney can help you with your claim.  Call Bremer & Trollop Law Offices at 715-849-3200 for a free consultation.
