MARSHFIELD — At about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Julie A. Burkhalter lost control of the Chevrolet Blazer she was driving, which caused it to crash, killing the only passenger, Zachary S. Singer, of Marshfield. Burkhalter and Singer were not wearing seat belts, and both were ejected. The investigation is ongoing at the crash site, which is near the intersection of Day Road and Yellowstone Drive.

Statutes limit the reduction of damages that can be applied by the negligent driver’s insurance company. A crash occurred at about 7:20 a.m. today at the corner of Highways B and C northwest of Neva. Officials said it appeared as if one of the drivers may have failed to stop at a stop sign.A similar scenario is being questioned as the cause of a fatal crash which occurred Friday southwest of Antigo at the intersection of Highways G and HH. Two people, a 21-year old woman and her eight-day old daughter, were killed. A 16-year old Antigo boy was also seriously injured in the crash. The Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the case.
Today’s crash sent three people to Langlade Hospital including both drivers — Kevin Zarda, of Pickerel, and Michelle Reif, of Deerbrook. Two children in the Reif vehicle, ages 14 and five, were also checked for injury and according to officials, one of them was taken to the hospital for further care.
